1st Hike of the Season

1st Hike of the Season

Being a PNW native, one of my favorite activities just so happens to be hiking! I went on my first hike of the season this past weekend and it was amazing! Nothing like your first hike of the year to remind you you’re out of shape am I right? Let’s be honest, my butt was pretty sore. During the beginning fall months of last year, Peyton (the BF) and I got into the groove of hiking almost every weekend and I’m hoping to get that going again! We started off easy last week with a classic hike up Poo Poo Point Trail. (Side note – dog below is not mine. Just my friends adorable pup named Ellie ♥).

With the plan to hike *almost* every weekend this summer, I started a list of my top 10 hikes to accomplish. Some are past favorites, others I have yet to conquer!

  1. Rattlesnake Ledge:
    • 4 miles round trip
    • Gain: 1,160 ft.
  2. Mt. Pilchuck:
    • 5.4 miles round trip
    • Gain: 2,300 ft.
  3. Snow Lake:
    • 7.2 miles round trip
    • Gain: 1,800 ft.
  4. Rachel Lake:
    • 8 miles round trip
    • Gain: 1,600 ft.
  5. Hidden Lake:
    • 8 miles round trip
    • Gain: 3,300 ft.
  6. Lake Serene:
    • 8.2 miles round trip
    • Gain: 2,000 ft.
  7. Mailbox Peak:
    • 9.4 miles round trip
    • Gain: 4,000 ft.
  8. Otter Falls:
    • 10 miles round trip
    • Gain: 650 ft.
  9. Kendall Katwalk:
    • 12 miles round trip
    • Gain: 2,600 ft.
  10. Mt. Teneriffe:
    • 13.8 miles round trip
    • Gain: 3,800 ft.

If you’re anything like me, you also like to hike *in style*. Who’s with me? Check out some of my fave staples! (And yes, I know, hiking boots are not cute. But let me tell you, your feet will thank you)!

Do you love to hike during the warm months? Would loooove suggestions to add to my ever growing list of trails!

Statement Making Stockings

Statement Making Stockings

I’ve receive many comments and DMs on the tights I wear, so I though why not blog about it!? I’m a big fan of wearing dresses and skirts year round, but I’m also a fan of staying *somewhat* warm. I figure if I have to wear tights, they might as well be kind of awesome right? My current favorites are stars and polka dots, but I also tend to rip every pair of tights within about a week of getting them. Due to this, my collection is constantly changing. Bold prints aside, I also LOVE a black pair of sheers to give any outfit a little edge.

ON MY LIST:

I did a major search and have put together a list of some AMAZING statement making stockings from camo, to stars, and even funky fishnets! Checkout some of my favorites…

As we round the corner into Spring, it’s less of a necessity to wear tights to keep your legs warm. That being said, the look has really grown on me so don’t be surprised to see these making more appearances on my Instagram feed ;). Are you a stocking rocker? Would love to hear your thoughts!

BOOTIE BOOTIE BOOTIE

BOOTIE BOOTIE BOOTIE

So, not gonna lie, I’m obsessed with booties. I think I own more pairs of booties than all my other shoes combined and I’m not ashamed of it. Also not ashamed that 4/5 of these booties are Dolce Vita (my favorite shoe brand).  I feature many of my favorite booties on Instagram so I figured hey, why not dedicate a blog post them! Today I’m sharing with you my top 5 current faves.

1. DOLCE VITA RAMONA BOOTIE IN OFF WHITE

7XSdmXowT3KQAxDWD0x9xQ_thumb_67db

Honestly, these are sneaking up on my love for a simple black bootie. White goes with SO much and these give an outfit an instant edge. This pair can be found at DSW for $79.99 (vs. original $170).

2. DOLCE VITA CAILLIN BOOTIE IN BLACK SUEDE

1bN+0w36Sr+kAn7+W7HbgQ_thumb_67dc

I could wear these booties daily (and pretty much do)  because the go with LITERALLY everything I own. Black booties are a staple in my wardrobe and these have lasted me a solid year and half of weekly wear. I may be in the market for a new pair here pretty soon, and JUST found them on Amazon ranging from $21.44 – $120 depending on size (vs. original $170).

3. DOLCE VITA SAMIE BOOTIE IN SNAKE PRINT

T4E14tc5QfunboPzXD317A_thumb_67dd

I was on the fence about snake skin booties – but these can be paired with SO much. I’ve found that they’re the perfect match for pretty much any denim look (especially if we’re talking denim on denim). Find these on 6PM for $90 (vs. original $170).

4. DOLCE VITA VARRA BOOTIE IN SILVER

RmY%zIqARqmS%nqX94K3Lg_thumb_67de

Currently 100% on board with this metallic trend. I watched these babies on Amazon for about 2 months until I finally caved and it was TOTALLY worth it. You can currently find this exact style on 6PM for $84.99 (vs. original $170).

5. REBECCA MINKOFF LOGAN BOOTIE

uxlBmjuBTCqm86XK0kl75Q_thumb_67df

Yes, I do in fact own a pair of boots that are not Dolce Vita. Surprising, I know. Studs are HUGE this season and I was lucky enough to snag these off Hautelook (along with the majority of my shoes) at a great price. Lucky for you, you can find the suede version on the Rebecca Minkoff site for $88 (vs. the original $175).

Next on my list is a pair of bomb red booties!! What’s your favorite pair? I’d love to hear from you!

BARGAIN BABE SHOPPING GUIDE

BARGAIN BABE SHOPPING GUIDE

It’s no secret that I LOVE a good deal – but don’t we all? I’m not gonna lie, I love myself some awesome name brands, but I also refuse to pay full price for pretty much anything. Why would I when I can find it somewhere else for half the price, am I right?! Being the regular bargain shopper that I am, I wanted to share some of my go-to stores and sites for finding my favorite brands at just a fraction of the price. PSA: If you’re not a down for a good deal, turn back now.

1. MARSHALLS & TJMAXX

Believe it or not, Marhsalls and TJMaxx are actually the same company and it’s kind of a dream. Prices are marked generally 20%-60% below full retail price on trendy and designer brand merchandise. Every time you walk in the store your bound to find something different and awesome (trust me, I go on a weekly basis). While Marshalls may only be brick and mortar, I recently discovered TJMaxx has a full online site with a continually changing selection! Some of the great brands I find on a regular basis include:

  • Joe’s Jeans
  • Blank NYC
  • Free People
  • Oribe
  • Rag & Bone
  • Dolce Vita

Checkout some current TJMaxx finds!

2. HAUTELOOK

Hautelook is a flash sale site owned by the one and only Nordstrom and is also the same site as Nordstrom Rack! They host daily limited-time events starting at 8AM Pacific Time with prices on AMAZING brands up to 75% off. Bad news is you better shop fast as the good stuff goes quickly, good news is there’s TONS of awesomeness to be seen (and bought) daily! Not gonna lie, it’s so hard for me to not buy the great stuff that pops up every morning. Some of the great brands I have found on the site include:

  • Rayban
  • Baily44
  • Lucky Brand
  • 7 For All Mankind
  • Urban Decay
  • Minkpink

Checkout some current Hautelook finds!

3. GILT & RUELALA

Both Gilt and Ruelala are similar to Hautelook in that they are also flash sales sites with daily events containing major brands. Gilt hosts daily events that include designer and emerging brands at up to 70% off retail. Ruelala operates in a similar fashion with daily limited-time curated boutiques with an ever-growing list of designers. Awesome brands I’ve found on both of these sites include:

  • Kate Spade
  • Michael Stars
  • Solid & Striped
  • Frye
  • Haute Hippie
  • Hudson Jeans

Checkout some current Gilt & Ruelala finds!

Now this is just a very small selection of my favorite locations to find deals on awesome brands. Interested in hearing more? Keep an eye out for more posts on where I do all my bargain shopping! What’s you’re favorite place to find a great steal? I’d love to know!

THE BIRCHBOX EXPERIENCE

THE BIRCHBOX EXPERIENCE

Not gonna lie, one of my favorite Christmas gifts this past year was Birchbox’s Women’s Monthly Beauty Box Subscription because let’s be honest, it’s like getting a gift every month! I’m a big fan of subscription boxes when it comes to beauty products because it helps me find what products I love without having to spend the big $$$ on the full size version just to test it out. I wanted to share with you all my experience on my very first curated box and give you a peak into my very own Birchbox experience.

THE PROS:

  • Only $10 a month for 5 beauty samples – you can even choose one of the 5 samples each month!
  • Each box is customized to YOU based on YOUR preferences! Pretty cool right? I’ve found some of my current favorite products through these samples and I love it!
  • You can purchase full size versions of your samples for free shipping + you get loyalty points that = more money to spend on what you love! $10 spent = $1 in points on the Birchbox site!

THE CONS:

  • No cons yet but i’ll be sure to report back 😉

SO, WHAT’S IN THE BOX?

While the sample selection changes on a monthly basis (which is pretty awesome), below are the great products I received in my January box!

  1. Eyeko Skinny Duo ($36) I don’t use eyeliner often and i’ll be honest, I’m not great at it. I gave this bad boy a try and absolutely loved it! So easy to create a fun cate-eye look or in my case, just a straight line, with the pen-style applicator!
  2. Air Repair Complexion Boosting Moisturizer ($23): I’m ALWAYS on the hunt for a good moisturizer. I took the sample size with me on my trip to NYC and it did wonders after subjecting my skin to dry airplane air! 10/10 will purchase.
  3. Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel ($48): I’m always skeptic of peels due to having sensitive skin, but this particular one is targeted towards just that and get’s the job done without leaving my skin aggravated. Legit feel like i’m glowing immediately after using.
  4. Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo ($44): OK Ya’ll know i’m a huge Oribe fan and this product is no different. It smells good unlike most dry shampoos I’ve tried and is seriously the most effective one I’ve tried as well. 11/10 because I can.
  5. VERB Hydrating Mask ($16): I put my hair through a lot (aka bleach, curling iron, straightening iron, blow dryer, etc.) and let’s be real it probably shows. This mask does some serious magic on my dry hair leaving it shiny and taming that frizz! Also only $16? Yes please!

Overall I’m a huge fan and honestly plan on re-subscribing. I even got my SO a 1-year subscription to Birchbox’s Men’s Monthly Grooming Subscription Box for his recent birthday and he’s absolutely loving it! I seriously look forward to us both getting our boxes so we can go through them together and see what goodies what receive each month. Have you tried any subscription boxes? I would love to hear your experiences!

BLONDE HAIR DON’T CARE

BLONDE HAIR DON’T CARE

This one is for all you girls out there with color-treated blonde hair. Your hair takes a pretty serious beating through all the bleaching and upkeep, so it’s important to nourish those platinum locks. There are a few products in my arsenal which have been absolute SAVIORS to my newly blonde strands, and I want to share their greatness with you!

ORIBE BRIGHT BLONDE

All three of the below products are my absolute FAVORITES when it comes to keeping my hair the color I want (aka not yellow). The Shampoo, Conditioner, and Radiance & Repair Treatment work wonders when it comes to combating unwanted brassiness. Even better? The products are also dermatologist tested, provide UV protection, are cruelty and gluten free, and are totally vegan!

Oribe Bright Blonde Shampoo for Beautiful Color

  • Violate pigments help eliminate brassiness and yellow tones
  • Dermatologist tested
  • Self 2015 – Beauty Award: Brighten

Oribe Bright Blonde Conditioner for Beautiful Color

  • Moisturizes and restores
  • Helps combat brassiness
  • Reverses damage by sealing moisture
  • Protects against future damage
  • Helps reduce split ends
  • Conditions your scalp to promote healthy hair growth

Oribe Bright Blonde Radiance & Repair Treatment

  • Repairs and prevents damage, brittleness, and split ends
  • Repaires damaged, porous blonde hair
  • Brightens and tones brasiness
  • Increases elasticity and softens dry and brittle strands

I’ve tried my share of purple shampoos that are supposed to help keep the yellow at bay, but this one really takes the cake in getting the job done! Also, the aesthetic right?! I’ll let you in on a little secret – TJMaxx occasionally carries it online at a great deal!!!

R+CO

R+CO High Dive Moisture + Shine Cream was suggested to me by my stylist as a great way  to keep my hair healthy and hydrated – man was she right!!! My hair is SO prone to dryness but I use this religiously after every shower and let me tell you, this stuff works wonders. Also vegan and cruelty free for the win!

R+CO High Dive Moisture + Shine Cream

  • Smooths and seals hair
  • Moisturizes and softens
  • Reduces frizz
  • Doubles as a leave in conditioner

I’m a skeptic when it comes to whether or not products actually work, but I could instantly tell after one use that my hair was more hydrated (which is key with intensely color treated hair). Moral of the story? I highly recommend!

Total transparency guys, this is not an ad, i’m just a huge fan of good products and healthy hair :). Interested in more posts with my fave products? Let me know!

Valentine’s Day: 1 Dress 3 Ways

Valentine’s Day: 1 Dress 3 Ways

February 14th is almost here! Like literally this week! Are you freaking out yet about what you’re going to wear? Don’t be. There are so many ways to dress for the holiday of love – from edgy chic, to feminine glam, and even cute and casual. One may think this is easier said than done, but it’s oh so simple to throw together the perfect V-Day ensemble without having to go and buy a brand new outfit (although that’s always a fun option). I grabbed one of my only red dresses from the closet and put together three dinner-date ready outfits to spark some inspiration.

#1: EDGY CHIC

#2: FEMININE GLAM

#3: CUTE AND CASUAL

When it comes to Valentine’s Day, I’ve always been more in the range of cute and casual, at a fun little restaurant with my favorite guy. Doesn’t get better than that right? Now tell me, what’s your go-to V-Day style?
